A new year like never before

Last night didn't seem like the year-end we have been used to. It was like any other day. And quiet too. Police had banned crowds of more than three people on the streets. So, the streets were largely deserted. And therefore, no mass revelry. There were no fireworks nor honking of car horns.

2020 was also a year of learning
  • not to take nature for granted (a microscopic virus can leave millions dead in a year)
  • the importance of good health (the dangers of comorbidities)
  • of our inherent ability to adapt and survive (lifestyles changed but life went on, new ways of conducting business)
  • about cleaner environment (lesser carbon emission)
  • to distinguish between what is essential and what is not (eating out, travel, social visits)
Here's wishing you all a 2021 that will be better in every way -- fruitful, peaceful, healthier, happier!

  1. Unfortunately, people don't seem to be learning that in my country. It's quite exhausting.

It has been exhausting...and, sadly, the end seems to be slipping further and further away here in the UK. Vaccines are all good and well but they just can't get enough out fast enough to work against the tide of a mutating virus. I predict 2021 will be the year in which there will be real societal change in terms of hygiene and etiquette...

... well... more precisely, that is what I hope will happen. That folk will actually, finally, understand their part in the greater picture. The revellers out and about last night leave that hope a wee tad shredded already!

That all said, I do think we need to remain optimistic. Humanity has a habit of sticking around!!! All the best to you and yours, Pradeep. YAM xx

  3. We did learn quite a lot last year, didn't we? Hopefully some of those lessons stick.

  4. Happy New Year to you and your family Pradeep. The governments in this world should realize if covid virus in 2020 is kindergarten then nuclear weapon is Ph.D. A single nuclear bomb can wipe out many countries. People should learn a lesson that this 2020 virus is a sample as to what will happen if a nuclear bomb is dropped.

  5. Hi Pradeep - yes last year was one of learning ... or looking back to history and seeing 'what have we learnt?' ... not a lot - especially by governments ...

We just need to be positive, be wise to things around us ... and learn from nature and to appreciate it ...

All the best to you and your family for 2021 ... take care - Hilary

  6. Happy new year to you and your family .

For me 2020 was the worst year . Not due to Covid but due to people around me . I had taken a lot of hurt and negligence and insults and what not.But I am really happy that this happened because I could learn so many things which be permanently within me and I found a new version of myself .

I hope for the bestest of me in 2021 .

    1. Hi Shilpa, Sorry to know that the year didn't go well. Not that it went for everyone else. Adversities are good learning opportunities; and I am glad you have taken that in the right spirit. Yes, let us hope for the best.

  7. That differentiation between what's essential and what's not was a hard learned lesson in 2020. A very beneficial one too. Didn't know I could save so much just by staying at home! :)

  8. Wishing you and your family a healthy, peaceful New Year Pradeep.

Your list of learnings should be adopted as the manifesto by all governments and individuals for this year and the future.

I hope for wisdom and learning to percolate through the masses even though the current signs point elsewhere.

    Warmly,

    Arti
